Should I play Yakuza?
Yes, I believe you should play the Yakuza series. Each game in the series (as of the ones I have played) have their charm and make for an enjoyable experience, even the ones I think are just ok. Kazuma Kiryu is one of my favourite videogame characters of all time and following his journey has been an experience.
Which Yakuza game should I start with?
The way I see it there are four entry points to series. You can start from the first Yakuza on the PS2, Yakuza KIWAMI, Yakuza 0, or Yakuza Like A Dragon.
Yakuza Like A Dragon acts as a “soft-reboot” for the series. It takes place after the events of Yakuza 6 however follows a new set of protagonists. It still includes spoilers to some events in prior games however it can still be enjoyed on its own.
Be weary that Yakuza KIWAMI released after 0 and has spoilers for events in that game
